MAUI OCEANFRONT MARATHON

The Maui Oceanfront Marathon (MOM) is a great way to start your year off healthy! Held every Martin Luther King Jr. weekend, the MOM has 5K, 10K, 15K, half marathon, and full marathons to compete in!

SENTRY TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS

This prestigious Sentry Tournament of Champions PGA Tour event takes place in early January at the Kapalua Plantation Course, attracting some of the biggest names in golf​.

GREAT MAUI WHALE FESTIVAL

Celebrating everything whales, the Great Maui Whale Festival is an annual event that brings together volunteers to help track the Pacific humpback whales that make the trip to the islands of Hawai’i every year.

THE COLOR FESTIVAL

Experience the vibrant Color Festival Hawaii, an annual celebration hosted by Imua Family Services at Maui’s Kalama Park. Inspired by India’s Holi Festival, this lively event unites the community through music, dance, and vibrant bursts of colored powders, symbolizing love and joy. It’s a perfect day for families, filled with fun, food, and an explosion of colors, all supporting a great cause.

EAST MAUI TARO FESTIVAL

Kicking off the festival season in April is the East Maui Taro Festival, Which celebrates the taro plant, a staple food in Hawaiian cuisine. The festival features hula performances, traditional Hawaiian music, and a farmer’s market where you can taste dishes made from taro.

LEI DAY

Leis for lei Day Maui EventsLei Day is a statewide holiday in Hawaii that celebrates the Hawaiian culture/aloha spirit. People celebrate by gifting lei’s to each other and you can find parties and festivals all around the island.

MAUI BREWERS FESTIVAL

The Maui Brewers Festival is an annual event hosted at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center that celebrates the craft of beer making. It features a wide selection of brews from local, national, and international breweries paired with delicious food from top local eateries. Attendees can enjoy live music and entertainment while sampling various beers and cuisines, making it a popular gathering for beer enthusiasts and food lovers.

MAY THE 4TH – STAR WARS DAY CELEBRATION

Celebrate Star Wars Day in style at the May the 4th – Star Wars Day Celebration at Wai Bar Maui. This festive gathering in historical Wailuku town invites fans to don their best Star Wars attire and enjoy a night of themed dance music, from hip-hop to techno. With live DJ sets, costume fun, and special drink offers, it’s the perfect place for fans to show their allegiance to the Light or Dark side.

42ND MAUI CLASSICAL MUSIC FESTIVAL

The 42nd Maui Classical Music Festival offers an enchanting evening of chamber music in the acoustically superb Makawao Union Church. World-class musicians, including the Formosa Quartet and notable soloists on clarinet, piano, cello, and violin, perform a diverse program that promises to captivate the audience with classical and contemporary compositions. This annual festival continues to be a highlight for music lovers in Maui.

MAUI MATSURI CHILDREN’S FESTIVAL

The Maui Matsuri Children’s Festival at Queen Kaahumanu Center is a vibrant celebration of multiculturalism, focusing on children’s entertainment and educational activities. The event features a mix of traditional and contemporary performances, STEM demonstrations, and crafts, creating a dynamic environment for learning and fun. Sponsored by local organizations, it’s a culturally rich experience that engages Maui’s diverse community.

MAUI MATSURI JAPANESE FESTIVAL

The Maui Matsuri Japanese Festival is a vibrant celebration at the University of Hawaii Maui College Great Lawn, featuring traditional Japanese entertainment, food, and crafts. Visitors can enjoy everything from taiko drum performances to martial arts demos and a variety of food trucks while children partake in free crafts. The festival culminates with a luminary ceremony and a Bon Dance, celebrating Japanese culture and community spirit.

JUNE

MAUI FILM FESTIVAL

The Maui Film Festival is one of the island’s premier events! World renown actors, directors, and producers have graced the red carpet. Enjoy the intimate atmosphere over the 5 days and 50 movies premiered at the Celestial Cinema.

KAPALUA WINE & FOOD FESTIVAL

A visit to the Kapalua Wine & Food Festival is highlighted by forward-thinking plates paired with an incredible atmosphere. You will never leave disappointed and will have plenty of memories to look back on!

THE WORLD WHALE FILM FESTIVAL

The annual World Whale Film Festival, organized by the Pacific Whale Foundation, coincides with World Ocean Month in June. This event features films that promote ocean and marine wildlife conservation. The festival includes in-person and online screenings to raise awareness and inspire conservation action.

MAUI AGFEST & 4-H LIVESTOCK FAIR

The Maui AgFest & 4-H Livestock Fair is an annual celebration of agriculture and community at the War Memorial Complex in Wailuku, organized by the Maui County Farm Bureau and the Maui 4-H Livestock Association. This family-friendly event showcases the island’s rich agricultural heritage through a farmers’ market, livestock shows, educational displays, and local food. HAWAIIAN SLACK KEY GUITAR FESTIVAL

The annual Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar Festival celebrates Hawaii’s rich musical heritage at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center. This beloved festival gathers Hawaii’s finest slack key guitarists to perform in an idyllic outdoor theater, accompanied by local food and crafts. LANA’I PINEAPPLE FESTIVAL

The Lana’i Pineapple Festival takes place 4th of July weekend and is a celebration of the homegrown pineapples found throughout the community. It is a great time and one of our favorite local 4th of July adjacent celebrations!

MAKAWAO RODEO AND STAMPEDE

The Makawao Rodeo and Stampede is an exciting annual event held at the Oskie Rice Event Center in Makawao, Hawaii. This iconic rodeo celebrates the paniolo (Hawaiian cowboy) culture with thrilling rodeo competitions, including bull riding and barrel racing. The event is a highlight for the community, blending traditional rodeo activities with local festivities and live music, providing a unique cultural experience that honors Maui’s rich ranching heritage.

HANA LIMU FESTIVAL

The Hana Limu Festival is an annual celebration at Hana Bay that highlights Hawaiian seaweed’s environmental, cultural, and nutritional significance. Attendees can enjoy music, hula, games, and crafts while learning about ocean conservation through educational activities. This family-friendly event is organized by Na Mamo O Mu’olea and supports local scholarships, promoting community and educational growth.

AUGUST

EMMA FARDEN SHARPE HULA FESTIVAL

The Emma Farden Sharpe Hula Festival is an annual event that honors the legacy of Emma Farden Sharpe, a celebrated kumu hula (hula teacher) from Lahaina. This festival is a vibrant celebration of Hawaiian culture, featuring hula performances, workshops, and Hawaiian music in Lahaina. The event not only showcases traditional and modern hula but also includes crafts and activities that engage the local community and visitors in the rich cultural heritage of Hawaii.

SEPTEMBER

ALOHA FESTIVALS HOOLAULEA

Aloha Festivals Hoolaulea in September marks the end of Maui’s Aloha Festivals Week. This cultural festival at Banyan Tree Park includes hula dancing, traditional Hawaiian music, and local food.

OCTOBER

HAWAI’I FOOD & WINE FESTIVAL

Maui Wineries hands cheering with red wineThe Hawai’ian Food & Wine Festival has anchored the fall season of Maui for over 10 years. Enjoy the collaborations from over 70 chefs from around the country to celebrate everything that makes Hawaiian American food interesting.

HAWAII INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

The Hawaii International Film Festival is a non-profit 501c3 that supports small independent filmmakers to produce and screen their films in front of live audiences.

NOVEMBER

HAWAIIAN AIRLINES MADE IN MAUI COUNTY FESTIVAL

Kick off your holiday shopping or bring home a souvenir by heading over to the Hawaiian Airlines Made in Maui County Festival in November. This festival is a great place to support local small business and pick up unique and artesian gifts.
